Goodbye

Well, now I'm going to quit this blog and this will be my last post. It's the end of the year and I will not need this blog for anything. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and GOOD-BYE!

Math

In Math, we are about to take the test with our favorite substitute Mr. Qutub. But when we are done with that, he will leave and our real math teacher, Ms. Rihani, will take over now that she is not pregnant anymore. With her we are going to finish the last chapter in our math book and then we will be done.

P.E.

Physical Education is one of my favorite subjects in school. Every day we run for 6-10 minutes and then just play sports for the rest of the class. The only thing we learn is the rules for a sport so we don't have to torture our brains too much. It is fun and exhausting and makes me hyper after class. The only minus is that my parents force me to take a shower every time I have P.E.

Science

We have started a project in Science where we have to make a song where the lyrics explain the steps of Meiosis. We had 2 weeks to complete it but because everyone tried to finish it on the last day and fail horribly, the teacher got very mad at us and made everyone of us to redo it and now we have the rest of the school year to finish it. I haven't even started working on it and I am getting worried that I might not finish it.

Sunday 9 May 2010

Today I presented my Red-Eye presentation. I took some notes from the link below which is all about Red-Eye.
Here are the notes:
Minimizing Red-Eye in Your Photos
  • Red-Eye is caused by the light from the flash reflected from a photographed persons blood vessels in their eyes back to the camera lens, which causes the person to have red eyes in the photograph.
  • Camera manufacturers have made a feature called "Preflash"
  • They fire a flash to force the persons iris to close which prevents the blood vessels from reflecting to your camera.
  • Then the actual flash is fired and the photo taken.
  • After the preflash has been fired, it causes the person to squint their eyes, so when the actual photo is taken, they will have their eyes closed.
  • Preflash does not completely prevent red-eye.
  • A better solution is something called "External Flash".
  • It fires the flash from a different angle.
  • Which prevents the light reflected from the persons eye from being captured by the camera.
  • You will need to buy a DSLR camera with a "hot shoe" where you can attach the external flash.
  • External Flash is sold separately.

Art auction

Because it is close the end of the school year, the art class students will have their artworks for auction! We will choose the items we want to auction, and during the auction, someone will hopefully buy them. All the money collected during the auction will go to charity.

Red-Eye

Red-Eye is a very annoying thing that happens during portrait photos. As the name suggests, the subject will have red eyes. This happens when the camera flash makes the blood vessels in the eye to reflect light back at the camera. I have found a nice photography website which can tell you how to prevent Red-Eye Here.

Ehab Othman

Last wednesday, we had a visitor named Ehab Othman. He is a professional freelance photographer. He came with his assistant and showed us some pictures he has taken and asked us questions about them. I learned about lighting and where the light comes from, but the probably the biggest thing I learned was that you can use any kind of camera to take take a very nice photo and even something that looks nice can look good through a photograph.

Azraq Trip

Last week, the whole 7th grade went to the Azraq Wetland Reserve on a field trip. It was a very interesting trip, except when we had to walk 1 kilometer from the lodge to the reserve. There was lots of chirping birds but we didn't (or at least I didn't) see much of them. We explored the area and saw 19 poor water buffaloes stuck in a cage, and started a project in which we got a water bottle with the top part cut off, and put some mud, crushed eggs, water, and scraps of newspaper. I have they told us it will show how some bacteria will move to the very bottom and some others to the top. I recommend you visit if you have the time and interest to go.

Photoshopping

In Digital Media, we have started Photoshopping. I think it is a very fun program. in the beginning it might be a little challenging but after a while you get used t it. Here is my most recent picture I made:

In L.A. we are currently in author study. We read at least 2 books by the same author and find similarities in the style the author writes. The author I am reading is Anthony Horowitz.

Thursday 15 April 2010

Yesterday in Social Studies, we continued our "Amazing Race". It was so fun! We got to run around school, get chased by other teams and run around the school some more. These are the rules:
1. Get clue paper from teacher with a clue and questions.
2. Figure out what country the clue is trying to tell.
3. Run around the school trying to find the paper with the country on it.
4. Find paper, answer the questions from the paper.
5. Go back to teacher to check if the questions are right.
6. Repeat 13 times.

The best part of it was that my team WON!

My first blog post

I will use the blog for writing things I have done in my life and my opinion about what happened.

I do not expect much from my blog, I think that I will get barely one view a day and I don't believe I will be using this after the school year is over.
